Apr 24, 2017I normally dont offer AXIS praise, but this is great deal for an $100 over a Q-series its not bad.
for Now you could make the case for $200 over the Hikvision model with your super ultra mega hyper double-triple dealer DIY discounts I suppose although I was surprised the IR was so bad on that model.
Sadly the same camera in the X series doesn't come with IR at ~$320

XND-6020R is still a 90 degree FOV with IR and is the same cost as the XND-6010. You also have the XNO-6010R which gives you the 139 degree FOV and IR in a bullet form factor. Its only a few bucks more.

its not fair yet till you can standard order it.
good news is I have had the time to play with the XND-6080R. The fixed lens version of it should beat all of the cameras listed above here.

Apr 24, 2017We have been using this and the M3105 series, which are almost the same camera and have had really good success with these. For the money they work great. Really the only reason to go with a better model is to have a varifocal lens if needed.

Apr 24, 2017Looks like a nice camera and the WDR does look solid. However, the base plate seems a little limited. I don't see an option for connecting conduit to the camera. With Dahua and Hikvision, I can easily choose the junction box I need that is compatible and there are knockouts on the back on on the bottom or sides of the camera. The whip goes in the junction box with the water resistant coupler. It seems if I choose the black option, I would need to paint the white accessories if they are needed.
I would say I like that the base mounting screws are on the outside of the included Axis base plate so water has less of a chance of getting into the connection area. Many of the Hikvision cameras have their mounting holes within the camera body which means there are more holes that need sealant to prevent moisture from entering.
I see they do make the AXIS T94B01P conduit back box but it looks like it only comes in white and they also make the AXIS T94B02M JB interface plate that looks to also be white. The conduit back box adds more depth and seems like an afterthought but I guess I would have to buy and install one or see one mounted with either accessory.

Apr 25, 2017While I understand that you have some older Hikvision products on hand, wouldn't it be more fair to compare current models against current models? It always peeves me to see the latest and greatest compared to a four year old base model.
A much better comparison would be the Hikvision DS-2CD2T22WD-I5 bullet. It is 2MP with True WDR. It also has their EXIR system, which should improve the IR performance over the older 2022 model.
I would like to see, also, if the bitrates on the newer model is more efficient.
And it's not like the 2T22WD would break the bank either. Likely around the $200 mark. Less if you are a partner or buy from less reputable online dealers.
What I would really like to see is IPVM trying to acquire current lineups of various brands for all testing. Please stop comparing against old models, unless there was a case where an older model is considered the gold standard and comparing against it leads to validation of a new top model.

That is a false accusation.
First of all, the Hikvision DS-2CD2022WD-I we tested is a current camera, marked "NEW" on Hikvision's website and confirmed by Hikvision sales itself as current:
We have plenty of other current Hikvision cameras, including the EXIR cameras we tested here.
And spare us the 'break the bank' comment. We buy all sorts of cameras including the $1,000 Hikvision PanoVu we bought and tested 2 months ago.
Again, your accusation of us not testing current lineups is false and our evidence shows that.
Now, if you want us to compare against a different current Hikvision model that's fine. We test lots of Hikvision models and happy to test that. Before we go and start, are there any other Hikvision models you want to see tested? This is your chance to let us know.

Apr 25, 2017Olive branch here. I didn't expect my previous post would be inflammatory in the least. So let me clear a few things up.
1) Hikvision's website may say that is a new model, but we all know it has been around for a long time. In fact, it was mentioned in this article here well over a year ago. And even if that particular model isn't as aged as it looks, that style of housing and IR array are very dated. That was my main concern, regarding the IR performance.
2) I see the EXIR bullet in the grouping. That is the style that I would test against. The 2022 style is the type I would expect to see in a COSTCO/Sam's kit bundle, not one that an integrator would be likely to choose.
3) I didn't mean "break the bank" as in IPVM is too cheap to buy one. I meant as the integrator/end user could afford it in their budget, even though it costs a little more than the 2022. The DS-2CD2T22WD-I5 is roughly $30 more than the 2022 and worth every penny IMO. I apologize if my wording seemed as a shot at IPVM. Obviously, you bought the more expensive Axis camera in the article, so I wouldn't doubt you could afford the cheaper Hikvision model.
4) Regarding Hikvision, Dahua, and other value brands models, it seems as if the models you choose to test are bottom of the barrel, with the exception of some of the exotics, like the PanoVu. I am unsure if any integrators out there are using the 2022 units, but I wouldn't likely install one, ever. So seeing the 2022 tested is kind of a let down for me.
Again, I hope that this clears things up and you see that I meant no harm earlier.

Btw, as a point of fact, most of the best sellers on ADI for IP cameras are non-EXIR Hikvision models.

Apr 25, 20174K Bullet: DS-2CD4A85F-IZH - We have used this model and have been very happy with the low light ability. I think this would be our default outdoor camera if every budget allowed.
4MP Bullet: DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 - This may be the one you already have? This is a good default camera for outdoor scenes where it can be mounted out of the reach of vandals. Has 120db True WDR as well.
2MP Darkfighter Bullet: DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZH8 - This model has a longer lens option and I am curious about the low light disadvantage (if any) if the lens is zoomed to the full 32mm setting. The 8~32mm lens is rated at f/1.4, the same value for the 2.8~12mm lens. That seems unlikely to me.
4MP Turret: DS-2CD2342WD-I - Bonus testing of the turret model to see if its EXIR performs as well as the bullet model. The bullet is rated at 50m and the turret 30m, but more importantly, which performs better in near field, more than overall range.

Apr 25, 2017The DS‑2CD2022WD‑I is listed to have 120dB of WDR. Regardless of IR at night, the WDR from the Axis looks really good and is probably the best feature about it. Although, I would like to see the comparison using the warehouse scene as well since that is what was used for the Hikvision test.
