VMS Update Automation Compared

By: Ethan Ace, Published on Mar 20, 2017

Updating VMS software can be a tedious and time consuming processing, which historically has required users to access each machine, download update files (typically large), and apply them to individual servers.

However, some VMS/NVR developers have begun making this process easier, with bulk and cloud updates now possible. In this report, we review automated/bulk update processes for 7 providers, including:

  • Avigilon
  • Dahua
  • Exacq
  • Genetec
  • Hikvision
  • Milestone
  • Uniview

Comments (2)

Note that these installation packages are not the typical .exe installers, but separate packages (found under the "Software Manager" category in Milestone's downloads).

Small update - Milestone's latest release has an update to the Software Manager that does not require these "separate packages," just the standard ones.
