By Sean Patton, Published Nov 27, 2018, 11:17am EST

Vintra is a Silicon Valley startup focused on AI-based video analytics. They had booths at IACP and ISC West demonstrating their hosted or on-premise solutions.

We spoke with Vintra, to better understand their approach, and how they position their analytics to differentiate themselves in an ever-crowded market.

In this note we look at:

  • Who is Vintra
  • What Customers is Vintra Targeting
  • How Much Does It Cost
  • What is Vintra's Go-To-Market
  • What Type of Video Analytics
  • What VMS Integrations Does Vintra Support
  • Developing Image Datasets
  • Compared to Avigilon
  • Challenges to Growth

Perhaps one more under "Challenges":

This may be non-PC, but the Vintra name sounds very Indian and gives me a bias against them. Mostly because India is commonly associated with low-cost IT support and grinding out mediocre code from big contracting houses, not the kind of developers I would expect to product reliable analytics.

...the Vintra name sounds very Indian and gives me a bias against them.

Do you have any bias against Spaniards?

That seems like a somewhat insane thing to say about a company. It also seems pretty ignorant considering the sur name Vyntra is Greek and "Vintra" isn't an actual word.

Just wow.

It also seems pretty ignorant considering the sur name Vyntra is Greek and "Vintra" isn't an actual word.

Agreed.

fwiw, I don’t have much experience with tech support in India, but I have hired at least a dozen Indian programmers that lived in the U.S. on work visas, they were all as sharp as they come.

Notable issue, the V100 is not 3 grand. The Titan V is.

Also, they are getting around 5 streams through a P5000.
