By: Ethan Ace, Published on Aug 02, 2018

Panasonic has released their latest fisheye camera, the WV-X4571L, with 12MP sensor and 9MP resolution, claiming "extreme image quality" under "challenging conditions", with smart H.265, 10m IR, and more.

We bought and tested this new model to see how it compares to others in our 12MP Panoramic Fisheye Camera Shootout, shooting against Avigilon, Axis, Dahua, Hanwha, Hikvision, Oncam And Vivotek.

Inside, we examine:

  • Full light image quality
  • Low light/IR image quality
  • IR illumination range
  • VMS dewarping differences (Avigilon, Exacq, Genetec, Milestone, Network Optix)
  • Camera side dewarping support
  • Smart codec support
  • Bandwidth consumption
  • Recommendations vs competitors Avigilon, Axis, Dahua, Hanwha, Hikvision, Oncam And Vivotek

Is this camera an OEM from another vendor?  If I am not mistaken, wasn’t Panasonic OEMing Oncam a couple/few years ago?  Doesn’t Panasonic OEM most of their existing lineup from Dahua?

To my knowledge, this is not an OEM. It uses a different web interface, different construction (much much different from Oncam especially), has different capabilities, and so on.

Panasonic does OEM some cameras from Dahua, but it is not most of the line. It's only the V series, which we report on here.

Thank you, sir.  Great info, as always

Pelco was the one OEMing OnCam.

With Panasonic Gold Partner Pricing, this unit is still $450 more than our Axis Gold Partner Pricing on the M3058-PLVE. This might be a tough sell for only a marginal gain in video quality. Im curious how Panasonic justifies this top of the market price.

Hi Ethan,

Great report as always.  Can you please show us the H.264 bandwidth results.  If H.265 is not supported in ExacQ, I'd like to know what we could be looking at comparatively.
