It would be interesting to see an end-user poll asking about spend and trends from their point of view.

Quick Rant!

I went into Best Buy the other day looking for a wireless gaming mouse. I upgraded my home monitor to 8K and decided to hook up a computer to one of the HDMI inputs, surprise Microsoft excel looks the same. I noticed lag in my current mouse, totally annoying so I figured I needed more DPI and ended up with a Razor branded 2.4 and BLE wireless mouse, problem solved.

Geek Squad and the dumb herd of consumers. I am old and grouchy with the majority of my life involved in electronics and IT, not just plugging in cables or modifying snippets of code but a real life of making shit work. I was quite annoyed how plug n play gave birth to IoT along with automatic self configuring devices while walking thru all the aisles of Best Buy with even the coffee making machines pissing me off. Who the hell knows how to configure stuff these days?

All of this shit is made in China and all these dumb M'F'ers haven't the slightest clue on how technology and electronics work, I feel sorry for the state of our youth and their outlook in this country. While some may say It is just my age, I question how soon this type of behavior is adopted within security technology and again all we know how to do is open the box and enjoy.

If China controls all of the building and distribution of technology, those poor kids in the Geek Squad with dread locks and blue hair do not stand a chance having a job in the future that is meaningful. Think about the best and brightest engineer or technician that is in your own local integration company, he/she, um they are the ones you cannot live without. However what if they were no longer needed? Construction can fall to cheap labor as well when work becomes desperate. The top seed(yes NFL on my mind) in your company is now competing with an invisible force. One day devices will have a cloud adoption button, once the unit is powered up simply push it once and confirm with face ID and your device is fully configured and end to end quantum encrypted, enjoy.

So to the integrators and integratees, while the outlook seems to be good right now, how are you pruning for the next five years if the technological shit hits the fan and push comes to cleave?

I have a nice cove of books that I have accrued over the years with a lot of them obsolete since they are technology based. It is unnerving to look back at the titles of these books for the memories stored in my hippocampus knowing that some of the time spent learning new subjects may have been in vain. I could have used that time to learn something else, but what...Chinese?

5G and Quantum Computing, those are the technologies we have at the cusp right now. It is only a matter of when and how they enter our security world via AI and Cloud technologies. Looking at the bookshelf once more I noticed a book that I have struggled with over the years and it already had this spelled out but I was too lazy to listen.
