Very cool idea! I hope this takes off for IPVM.

Bad fits for attending IPVM Live Labs are those looking for a sales or general networking event or those wanting basic / general training (see our courses for training).

IPVM Live Labs vs. IPVM Conference
IPVM Live Labs will replace IPVM's Conference. Attendees told us the most valuable part of the Conference generally was the hands-on product portion where IPVM experts gave direct answers and advice on various systems we have tested side by side. The most difficult part for us was staging, transporting, and setting up equipment to an off-site location. Live Labs facilitates us doing even more custom testing on more equipment in more scenarios to make it even more valuable for attendees.
Lodging and Transportation Recommendations
IPVM's Research Facility is located in Bethlehem PA, a ~1.5-hour drive from NYC and Philadelphia as well as the Newark Liberty and Philadelphia International airports.
The Courtyard by Marriott Bethlehem Lehigh Valley/I-78 is located just five minutes from IPVM's Research Facility. Other hotels within 10 minutes include Hyatt Place Bethlehem and Historic Hotel Bethlehem.

Great idea!
Although the price is likely to be outside of my range, I can see how more testing-focused approach is better fit for IPVM.
I'd like to suggest "general networking event" during or (preferably) a day before ISC West. Something like John ran during one of the ASIS shows in Orlando years ago: more concise version of IPVM Conference - 1 day only - with a mix of technology, strategy, state-of-the-industry discussions and networking, of course.
