The past 2 years of US bans and sanctions have shaken the video surveillance industry but what impact would this have on integrators' favorite cameras?
Inside we break down the 2020 rankings, including detailed integrator commentary (from 200+ integrators) and analysis of the trends. And new for this year, breakdowns of US vs non-US favorite rankings.

Axis - Their engineering team has the installer in mind. You don't realize how well they put them together until you install another brand.
This comment is highly relevant. Bosch and Pelco were very good at having mounts for every occasion, at least back in the day... I cannot comment on their current installer friendliness. It does seem like Axis has taken up the lead in having coverage for every mounting need. The accessory selector on their website is especially useful when building out a single camera bill of material for pretty much any mounting need and connectivity. I wish other manufacturers would replicate this depth of product range when it comes to mounting. It's very frustrating to have to purchase 3 different brands of product to get one parapet camera mounted. More often than not I purchase Axis mounts and use with third party cameras due to this... I hope Axis makes a tidy margin on mounts.
Looking at the Hanwah line, their products appear cosmetically similar to Axis in many cases. Are Axis and Hanwah partners in some way? Possibly on lower end Axis cameras? Or are they just blatantly copying Axis designs?
I'm going to guess that the reason it was voted unhelpful is because Axis and Hanwha cameras don't look any more similar to each other than other camera manufacturers. There are only so many ways a dome, multihead or bullet style camera can look...
I see only typical similarities in the quick pic examples I have included. Can you give some model numbers or other specifics to how you feel Hanwha is "blatantly copying Axis designs"?

Please...your question clearly suggests that if they are not partners in some way sharing their designs, then the other scenario is that they are blatantly copying Axis designs. Neither are true. We routinely sell both products lines, I came to Hanwha’s defense as I took the comment as slanderous to their name/reputation. All dome, bullet and multi-head cameras look somewhat similar. Look at Honeywell, Hikvision, Bosch, Panasonic, Avigilon. Who is copying who? Years ago, Axis cameras looked somewhat futuristic. Later, they adopted more traditional dome style with bullets and PTZ cameras as well. One could say Axis copied many that came before them like legacy manufacturers...Pelco and Bosch.
It was an accusation presented in the form of question. That was obvious an unwarranted. maybe you didn’t intend it to be, but that’s how it clearly reads. Remember, my initial comment was regarding why people marked your comment as disagree and unhelpful. This leads me to believe I’m not the only one who reads it that way.
Sure we can be done if you’d like. If not, maybe you can explain what question you were asking? Was the question not “is Hanwha blatantly copying Axis designs”?
Can you explain how this wasn’t meant to say that your opinion is either they are partners on some level OR Hanwha is copying Axis designs? My issue has now become less about Hanwha not copying and more about my distaste for people not wanting to be accountable for their statements, which I believe is/was very clear, leaving little to no room for interpretation of what you were saying or asking.
I think you need to consider this person your talking with does not have simple command of the english language. Or has serious STM. Or believes that you should know what they meant, instead of what they wrote.
I agree. Thanks for the reminder. At times, when it comes to debating, I am like wrestling with a pig in the mud. The more someone is engaging, the more I like it....
In an industry full of OEM's, it's a valid question... and John answered the question long ago. I'm not sure why you choose to exasperate. You should reevaluate your overall contribution to this thread. You're the only one that believes that it matters.
Your refusal to admit to what you implied in your initial comment is what is exasperating. John answered your first question. I answered your second question, which to clarify is that they do not copy Axis designs at all, which means that "blatantly" is out of the question!
Seems like IPVM has a new go to, Verkada! However, I dont agree at all. Thie anti security, blah blah.
Verkada does not even show up as a bump on a camels backside in the real world of number of sites or anything. "but they are the big gainer and challenging Axis". Seriously, going from 100 to 200 is much easier than going from 1,000,000 to 1,200,000.
Recently, We evaluated and went another direction for more than 800 sites and happy.
Their management gets slammed, even in an IPVM article, their product changes major direction but hey, lets keep heeping the praise.

Seriously, going from 100 to 200
You think what you want, but Verkada is gaining usage at a significant rate. They are already claiming to have over 100,000 total cameras deployed and, given their massive fundraising and hiring (from ~250 employees a year ago to 450+ now), they are going to double or more this year, next year, etc.
"but they are the big gainer and challenging Axis".
You invented that quote, that is funny. What we said was "Verkada is making headway." and that is correct.
I do enjoy the humor.
You can laugh if you want, makes no difference to me.
UM #5... I believe John did a good job of substantiating where the articles point of view was coming from. Verkada may be lying about their numbers of 100K plus units deployed, but their fundraising results and addition of 200 employees this fiscal year has one leaning towards their numbers being relatively accurate. I think John was responding appropriately to your comments with more information about how IPVM formed their opinion(s). You should continue to post and not be offended or feel as though you should not. Contribution in the forum is how we all learn....
Talking of camera popularity I agree with this IPVM report that AXIS and Hanwha are very popular in North America (#1 and #2). Statistics gathered by our design tool in Q1 2021 shows that Bosch is also very popular both in North America (#5) and Western Europe (#4). Hikvision and Dahua are #3 and #4 in North America.

Okay. I was asking the question, not making the statement as you suggested.

Are all Hanwha cameras NDAA compliant? I thought only part of their camera lines were NDAA compliant.
