Full disclosure - I work for Eagle Eye.

It's interesting to see how things have changed in this space over the last 7 years. Obviously I'm excited for Eagle Eye to be the top selected company, but obviously there is a long way to go, given that the #1 selection was 'none.'

Cloud is not a fit for every application, and some of the responses indicate that. However, what I see happening is that the types of customers that want cloud are increasing rapidly.

For those of you that are still not sure if cloud is right for you, I would suggest you try it out (ideally you would chose Eagle Eye.). One of the really cool benefits of cloud is that it doesn't take a whole lot of effort to evaluate it. Eagle Eye (and I'm sure others) can do a webinar demo that shows all of the functionality in about an hour.

Lastly - right now I'm hearing from a lot of our resellers about how glad they are to have a recurring revenue stream. This might be the right time to look into getting into or more into the RMR business model.

Hi Hans,

We are working on a global project now and looking to integrate Eagle Eye with Brivo.

I was surprised to read one of the comments about the limited camera range.

Actually, I thought that was one of the key selling points for Eagle Eye (as opposed to Verkada / Meraki, with very few cameras to choose from).

Can you please confirm?

Thanks!

I’m not sure what cameras they want us to support. We support cameras via OnVIF profile S. We have a list of models published in our website at www.een.com/cameras

I think that there are about 3,500 camera models supported (not sure of the exact number)

if you have a manufacturer or model you want us to use that isn’t listed just let us know.

EagleEye's Camera Compatibility page lists ~2,800 cameras on it. That means there is considerably greater camera support than Verkada/Meraki, while still much lower than Genetec/Milestone

As we noted in our 2018 Eagle Eye test, accessing camera streams through RTSP is supported, additionally, Eagle Eye offers a request form to add direct driver support for unsupported cameras:

Unsupported Cameras

Cameras not specifically listed on the supported device list were listed as Unknown or the camera model and that the camera is not supported. If a camera is shown as Unknown, users may click a button to submit a support request to Eagle Eye, which follows up to work with the user to add a driver for the camera. An email response from Eagle Eye Support stated a turn around between 1 and 5 weeks to add camera support.

Users may add cameras via RTSP addresses by enabling the option in Account Settings:

Unlike most VMS platforms, this requires two addresses:

  • First, the RTSP address to the H.264 main, high resolution stream. This is used for recording and full resolution monitoring.
  • Second, users must supply a lower resolution MJPEG stream, used for preview, thumbnails, and mobile devices.

While the first stream is typically not difficult to find, many users may not know how or where to find a camera's secondary MJPEG stream, making this method more complex than submitting a support request.

We position VSaaS applications for small to medium applications only with no more than 15 to 20 cameras. Providing that the resolution of the cameras are 4MP or less. The advantages for moving a VMS from Cap-ex to Op-ex are attractive to some customers. As multi-gigabit connections become readily available, VSaaS applications will become far more mainstream. I would expect cable providers like Comcast to partner with a VSaaS software manufacturer and push heavily into the VSaaS market in the next few years. Their strong position with last mile connectivity and their presence in the business community providing internet and voice services and recently cell phone connectivity, provides them with a significant opportunity.
