Congrats! We need to see some fresh distributors ready to take on ADI and Tri-ed
Eastern and SavvyTech Merge, Form ENS, Targets ADI
ADI, ENS is coming for you. Or, at least, they hope.
Two US distributors, NY based EasternCCTV and California based SavvyTech [link no longer available] have merged, to form ENS. The company tells IPVM they aim to increase their branch count by 400%+ in the next 5 years.
Inside this note, based on feedback from the company, we examine what they hope they do and how likely the accomplish it.

Or is it really because they see eroding sales unless they aggressively take market share as these two-men-crews go bankrupt via Amazon, Simply Safe, Arlo, etc..
I think for starters, they need to do better on marketing. I am an existing Savvytech client and receive all of their marketing emails. The merger announcement was nothing more than a "Hey we merged". No explanation of the benefits, strengths of each company, etc. I did not know Eastern was primarily Uniview. That's a bit** because I just ordered several Uniview LPR cameras from another vendor. I rather would have ordered from Savvytech.
I like my peeps at Savvytech. Just glad what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas :) If they open a branch near me, I am still insisting on keeping my rep. He can just ship from my local warehouse!
They are a key vendor for us. I hope it works out well for them.
In California, Eastern was pushing TVT, but more Uniview now
"Started from the bottom, now we're..."
Congratulations Robert- i hope everything goes great for you guys in this merge!
Lol I wasn't sending him to Siberia or something. Detroit is where my nearest ADI store is, and since I invited Robert here, I was willing him to move to service me locally. I know I give effusive praise to some people, but guys like Robert deserve it. He really does go waaaaay beyond anything I have received at any of the ADI level distributors.
Meh, factor in the bears and wolves and I will take Detroit any day. You are used to Houston traffic, so Detroit will feel like home.
Another Chinese communist front company looking to suck the life out of America !!!
There have been mumblings that UNV has government ownership...perhaps made up by competitors....any way to confirm either way?
#3, related: Bain Sells Off Uniview / UNV, Sold to China Trans Info
We have not looked into China Trans Info's ownership yet since Uniview / UNV has been a small player with minimal US presence.
I think they will be a player to be reckoned with soon, supposedly being top 5 global manufacturer (however the largest projects based in China....sound familiar)?
Perhaps you could help us get out in front of it.
I've assigned this to one of our people. I'll post back with feedback.
UNV is claiming to be #7, overwhelmingly from China.
As for a player to be reckoned way, with their current strategy of no / low local sales and support, they will be constrained to low-cost sales and limited upmarket penetration.
Unless they want to be like Dahua and Hikvision spending tens of millions on overseas expansion of full time local employees, I think their positioning will be constrained.
Totally agree on low USA presence = low penetration, but this merger has upticks of higher aspirations....
All about getting in front of it and thank you John.
Thats how they get you! They start off small and discrete, cleverly laying under the radar, and then boom, their trojan horse is unleashed and millions of Chinese people are taking over Merica!!
Mitt Romney basically committed treason!
Real talk, mergers are rough. Getting by day by day, though.
