Dahua Buenos Aires Bus Screening Violates IEC Standards and Dahua's Own Instructions

Published Jun 30, 2020 13:31 PM

Dahua has promoted Buenos Aires bus deployments as "solutions that facilitate community safety". However, they violate IEC standards and, ironically, Dahua's own installation instructions.

Background: Buenos Aires Buses

Dahua 'fever' / temperature screening devices have been installed on two bus lines in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (the official name of Buenos Aires, Argentina’s capital), as well as on a third bus line in Buenos Aires Province (the region surrounding the capital).

system functioning in buses or metro environment

We strongly recommend no temperature screening in buses, regardless of the manufacturer. The issue here is that Dahua is promoting this, not that a Dahua system is bad while some other system would be 'good' for this.

It is shocking but not surprising…

I am sure, in some years and with more r&d, we are going to have very reliable solutions for this kind of scenario, but for now, it is a little bit challenging, and some are taking advantage of the current situation.

That deployment goes against every rule on the book or guides, nevertheless, it got the go ahead…

It will sure bring a false sense of security for people using those buses…

As for the article, splendid job Robert. Really enjoying this Latin American series =)

Thanks Robert, you are unmasking all the mediocre deployments in the region where personal interests exceed the business ethics.
