Bosch's favorability moderately strengthed, in new IPVM integrator statistics over their results from 2017, with 2019 results showing strong net positive favorability:

By contrast, in 2017, integrators main complaints were for support and pricing.

In regards to R&D, which always seems to be a topic when discussing Bosch, does their corporate structure hinder R&D? By this  I mean does being a privately held company that is 92% owned by a charitable foundation invest much in R&D? On the other hand, new tecchnology now seems comes from startups not the conglomerates and I think it is a smart move to see Bosch investing in some of these.

Bosch did fall behind but they are quickly catching up with the rest of the market. They have been more focused on analytics the past couple of years instead of rushing to the market with a bunch of new camera models. They are banking on the data that can be generated from the analytics in their cameras. There is only so much more that can make cameras better. Only so much resolution, bandwidth savings and so on can be improved upon. In the "Big Data" society we now live in, like it or not, this is the future of the surveillance industry and IoT and Bosch is positioning themselves to be at the forefront. 

I have heard they will have a multihead within the year most likely. Their new 8000i series is an amazing camera being released next month. That camera will make installation a breeze and less expensive to install as well. 

Yes the fact that they OEM their low cost NVR's is disappointing for sure, especially when the Dahua interface looks and works much better.

I have heard they will have a multihead within the year most likely.

That is so far behind.  I was told it would be coming in a year 15 months ago.  It seems that all other large manufacturers released multi-heads in 2015 with many now being on their second or third generation.  Even the second place laggard to the multi-head market, Panasonic, has had their fairly decent first unit out for a few months now.

Bosch is smart and waited until the patent lawsuit was shutdown. My guess when they do release one it will be really good. Time will tell.

Well, "we were waiting for patent issues to die down" is at least better than the usual excuse (in general), "we were waiting so it could be done right".

I agree completely with your statement. The funny thing about the big "Four Camera/Imager" patent is that there was a four head analog camera back in the late 90's early 2000's. I have tried to find it but we threw away all our old ADI catalogs we kept like a hoarder last year. I believe it was GBC maybe. 

With that being said I can see a manufacturer waiting to see if a product like a four head camera is just a fad or here to stay. Just like HD over coax. To me this makes perfect sense for systems already in place and you would only have one vulnerability point at the recorder. I have heard rumblings of Bosch dipping into this as well.
