I know that a Kuwait-based company used to have shares in the company. I remember contacting them in late 2009. They also used to do vehicle access using RFID as far as I remember, in addition to RFID-based RTLS. From what I remember they closed up shop.

Amphion Innovations lists it as a company it owns.
http://www.amphionplc.com/
Thank you, Abdelhamid! I'll take a look.
The following update is included in the story above as well:
Axcess is listed as a property of a company called Amphion, which says it helps organizations "commercialize" intellectual property:
On the Amphion site, Axcess highlighted as "discussing litigation strategies," and is noted for its "rich portfolio of over a dozen patents":
They may be making a business out of suing for patenet infringement or licensing their patents.
We had installed some of the Axcess equipment around the 2002 time period. I would receive calls from their sales guys all of the time asking about any upcoming orders. They were really pressing for numbers and a few times when I went to their local offices they were having meetings about going public. They were all about the IPO.
Good article - patent trolling is repugnant to me and that's certainly what it appears Amphion/Axcess' latest "strategy" appears to be. Hopefully these latest victims and the courts see it that way, contest in court these overly broad claims and applications of Axcess' patent(s) and this attempt to curtail innovation in our marketplace is thwarted.
