Re: Crotega
This type of active shooter deterrent is the result of 'thinking outside the box' to credit them, but it shows a brash disregard or ignorance for rigors and vulnerabilities of real use.
If someone slips on a puddle of that stuff that leaks out or doesn't get mopped up properly, who pays?
What about the damage caused by mold and mildew when the stuff soaks into walls and floors every time the system is tested or triggered?
I'd arm the students with some river rocks before installing the Crotega system.
My other issue with having it deployed, is that it is most certainly going to be a local news story, which would make any would-be attacker aware of the system, and then potentially prepared for it anyway. Long sleeve trench coat, hoodie/large brim hat, full coverage aviator glasses, tactical gloves and boots, oh wait...
Or it acts as a deterrent. I do agree about the publicity aspect but I would think the manufacturer would argue deterrence.
Btw, the one thing I am not sure here about is how do you outfit this solution cost-effectively for schools with numerous buildings and entrance. Most schools I would imagine have multiple egress points. Thoughts?
This solution product would be very expensive to install and maintain for school campuses. I can't stand it when I see security products on the market that provide little protection beyond false hope. I'm blown away that Crotega has existed since 2014.
