Does the camera have full Botnet support or does one have to download Mirai seperately? ;)

It's downloaded separately. Actually we did NMAP these cameras and telnet and SSH are closed by default.

Hopefully they will add others besides Dahua, I really hate being locked in to a single botnet...

What about a special Linkedin bot by the name of Vicky at SYLO VISION.

"Hi, Ryan,This is Vicky from SYLO VISION TECHNOLOGY CO.,LTD,SYLO VISION manufacuture IP Camera,NVR,AHD Camera,AHD DVR,HD CVI Camera ,HD CVI DVR and Analog Camera,DVR,"

Seems legit.

And for a limited time free bots just for visiting the website!

Run for the hills, these products are all XiongMai inside. DVR IP etc.

Check their website, download the manuals, see all the pathetic word document index incorrect, complete jokers at work. Expect same level of quality from their products, which are all public parts, sweet shop factory.

Agreed, Smellovision and the like are as good as their grammar. But are none the less selling systems to the OEM market on Alibaba and Amazon. Further fueling the army of Zombie NVR's that will one day take down the internet, again.

full /NMAP or just the Quick scan.

cameras like to have a few ports open in the private ranges for private coms. I have also on occasion I have seen thing like telnet and video streams moved to private ports.....

Ethan, wondering if in addition to the html/images/javascript pilfery, is the plug-in the same as hik uses?

Avatar

Nope. In fact some of the ActiveX are in Chinese which will surely put people at ease given current opinions.

I just installed a couple of Dahua DH-IPC-HDW44A1EN turret eyeball domes and they have that same crappy plastic base. The camera part is some type of metal, but the base is flimsy plastic. Just as in the article, there is no way to tighten the eyeball enough to prevent it from moving. The only way I could see making it tighter is to wrap the back side of the camera with tape or something to make it fit tighter. However, you better have it aimed perfectly before snapping the base in place. Once the base is snapped in, assuming the tape worked as hoped, you wouldn't be able to adjust the camera at that point. Just a really poor design. How much does a cast metal base cost?

How much does a cast metal base cost?

More than 10 grams of silicon...

They already have an Eyesurv NVR and it won't support Hik VMD. I don't remember where I bought this POS NVR......????

You probably bought that when they actually used real metal in their products though, HA! I can get it to work VMD btw!

Can you keep it from being hacked LOL? I have changed to non-standard ports and am hoping that keeps it (ob)secured. It is an ESRV-NVR-16. Would just like to keep it from being turned into a bot. VMD would be a cherry on top for the one Hik dome DS-2CD2132-I.

oh that is old school. dont dmz your router you should be good, only when telnet port is open will that occur.

Actually I dont think VMD will work on that one, but pretty much any other model it will.

You cant get 4MP video on that though, maxes out at 1080p. maybe we should move this to email, LOL.

To stay on topic though, Longe probably wont work VMD either.

Care to share your secret source for that old clunker since you're no longer bringing any more Dahua in for a good long while?

Edit: NVM, talked to you directly already.

Интересная информация. Подозреваю, что теперь на Aliexpress китайцы начнут выдавать Longse за Hikvision.

A little off topic but.

Longse are going public, or attemping to go public. So they have buckets of cash of investors waiting for their big payday. With this Longse is able to offer their products are a low price, in so much as below most other smaller companies cost price!

No legal issues with dumping stock here then!

How can they go public, it's simpler when you are the boss, and you just married someone who's father is a high ranking goverment official!

Now it all makes sence perhaps!

I wonder if the people that installs those products really think that Longse will keep their cloud servers(for P2P) working 2+ years.

What are they going to tell to their customers when the cameras stop working after Longse shuts down their servers.

Why would Longse suddenly shut down their servers?

UI

That is very common on Chinese companies.

You'll see many advertising low cost P2P cameras, disappearing after one year and turning off their servers.

I don't think that Longse will keep their P2P servers working for free more than 2 years.

We host a DDNS service with 20K devices, it is not cheap. Here we only do dynamic DNS, in this case they stream the video.

Our first test of Longse is nearly two years old, and cloud access was via the same platform then as it is now. I think that these services aren't unique to each company, but a bolt-on addition to various camera platforms. Xiongmai based cameras use http://xmeye.net, for example.

I believe that some may have shut down, but I think these overarching platforms lower the chances of them all just disappearing.

I know its called freeIP, but is it really always free? If they're charging for it at least some of the time, then I it would be expected to last.

Does mounting method really make that much difference? (surface mount vs radial thru hole)
