Nice report, Ethan.
Question, in the case where you have several cameras and and an NVR and they are all cloud compatible, what is the best way to get the streams to the cloud, from the cameras themselves or thru the NVR?
UPDATE: 2023 Test - Hik-Connect 5 Cloud Services And App Tested
Hikvision has built out cloud services for their cameras / products, adding cloud access and recording.
Hikvision markets cloud under Ezviz (not to be confused with their Ezviz direct to consumer offerings, which is a product line that supports cloud services) and, more recently, Hik-Connect.
We tested these applications with a variety of Hikvision cameras to determine what worked and how well it did. Inside, we report on:

When enabled, the camera or recorder initiates a TLS connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS), making the device available via EZVIZ.
Ethan, to the best of your knowledge is it true that
When sending a video stream to the Hik cloud it must be TLS encrypted.
When sending a video stream anywhere else it cannot be TLS encrypted.
