Feb 09, 2018Off the top of my head: amps, volts, location, dedicated circuit(s) and backup power complete with failover time. Oh yeah, who is going to provide it.

Feb 09, 2018Such a simple question, but such a complex answer! :)
Fundamentally, most security equipment uses DC current, so planning power generally involves having AC drops that are immediately turned DC with power supplies or PoE switches. There's several factors that shape things from there.
So not to complicate your question, but what type of security system are you planning?
We have a number of guides that may help:
- PoE Guide for IP Video Surveillance
- PoE Powered Access Control Tutorial
- IP Camera PoE Power Consumption Measurements
- UPS Backup Power for Surveillance Guide
- Backup Power for Large Security Systems
We can help here, so if you have more questions just ask.
