Mary Beth is a poor representative for this show. She does not get the industry at all and is only focused on getting the most money for Rx. She would sell a booth to anyone if it helped her hit her quota.
Criminally Indicted / NDAA Banned Hytera Should Not Exhibit At ISC West
While Dahua and Hikvision are barred from ISC West, fellow PRC China manufacturer Hytera has a large central booth at ISC West 2024.
Like Dahua and Hikvision, Hytera is NDAA banned but unlike its two peers, Hytera has been criminally indicted by the US DoJ over a "conspiracy to commit theft of trade secrets" from Motorola.
ISC West show organizer RX Global's Mary Beth Shaunnessy and SIA's Don Erickson declined to comment about allowing Hytera to exhibit.
Hytera has quadrupled its booth size, moving to the center of the show floor. Last year, Hytera had a relatively small booth at the far edge of the show that was easy to miss:
Now, Hytera is in the center of the show floor just across from Honeywell and Motorola company IP Video Crop.
Hytera fakes being a US organization, with the company's ISC West exhibitor listing emphasizing "US," with no mention of China nor the bans imposed on Hytera:
Moreover, Hytera uses its ISC West exhibitor page to declare itself "THE LEADER IN SECURITY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS AND SOLUTIONS":
This is a particular risk for ISC West attendees, including government and critical infrastructure users, who are provided no warning, disclosure, or information about the risks of using this company's products. Rather, ISC West and SIA are effectively endorsing this company.
Versus Dahua and Hikvision
SIA expelled Dahua, and Hikvision quit while under investigation for ethics violation.
Last year, SIA barred Dahua and Hikvision (neither of whom are exhibiting this year either) with SIA explaining:
More than two years ago, SIA adopted a Code of Ethics for our members. Any exhibitor at SIA operated events should share this same commitment to this baseline for ethical behavior and exceed these principles in practice. Exhibitors at SIA events are SIA members who have indicated that they will abide by the Code. Dahua and Hikvision are not SIA members or exhibitors at SIA events.
Hytera is not a member of SIA, though according to SIA's own logic above, "any exhibitor at SIA operated events should share this same commitment," which applies to Hytera.
Criminal Indictment
SIA surely has a precedent for barring companies under criminal indictment. For example, in 2019, when Aventura was criminally indicted, SIA, which had previously praised Aventura, quickly deleted their endorsement of Aventura and dissociated themselves from the company and its Managing Director, who was on SIA's executive council, which we explained here: The Cowardly, Greedy "Leaders" of Video Surveillance - SIA.
"Everyone Belongs"
ISC West's home page declares "everyone belongs":
But as RX and SIA have already demonstrated, those who violate ethics and are criminally indicted should not be promoted and endorsed by ISC.
That's what you call doubling down. Hytera is Blatantly rebellious and should be mentioned by every other vendor on the floor as criminals, with an honorable mention for ISC!
As far as "everyone belongs" - that also sound like some commie DEI BS. I'm not having it.
Should there be a crowd-funded booth at the show to bring the importance of why these types of companies shouldn't be there? Call them out? Making sure everyone understands why this is so important?
Or should we stage an old fashion picket line of protestors?
Oddly, the now finished 2024 floor plan removed Hytera from exhibiting and shows it for sale:
As we reported during the show, Hytera did not exhibit. However, the immediate factor was that Hytera was under a temporary world-wide sales ban, i.e., see Hytera Ordered to Stop Selling Two-Way Radio Technology Worldwide
