The VMS New developments are indeed exciting and significant as noted in Avigilon and Hikvision that is Unusual Motion Detection which helps the operator to quickly identify the unusual activities and easy investigation. Hikvision Deepmind Analytics really gives relevant details that count.
In a nutshell the new development are commended.

Fabian, thanks for the feedback! Can you elaborate on how you are using DeepInMind?
It has not yet been implemented in our country however, am currently studying the market to established the best application.
I think this is partially the case because the major VMS platforms are pretty mature products, and the "innovation" they are working on like cloud applications and cybersecurity are common-place in the consumer electronics world.
Thanks for the feedback
I agree.
I do feel that NX is the only odd one of the bunch making real efforts to innovate where others have stopped.
Their integration with Zapier is a very nice idea that shows openess to new IOT tech.
On the other hand they are lacking in integration with 3rd party analytics and alarm managment which is basic in other VMS's...

Not for long.... (v3.2)
Thank you Jon. Genuinely appreciate any help getting mind share for what is a truly great software -- by whatever name.
This XProtect update matches a key feature in Genetec Security Desk, which included NVIDIA hardware acceleration since their 5.3 release 3 years ago. This could have a significant impact on large users who are viewing 4K video or 20+ HD streams across multiple monitors.
ACC supports nVIDIA Cuda, and i'ts a must on every client workstation.
I been test Valerus from VICON and works great. I test their VMS with biometrics FR and LPR and its integration and performance have exceeded my expectations before being a milestone customer. Have you ever tested ?
Luis, thanks for the feedback. We have not tested Valerus from Vicon. The two main reasons are (1) there are so many established VMSes already and (2) Vicon has been struggling for years (e.g., Fullerton Out At Vicon, Weak: Vicon / IQinVision Financials Out).
That said, we are certainly open to testing Valerus. What did you like best about it? For example, you mention having been a Milestone customer, what features or elements of Valerus did you find better than Milestone? Looking forward to hearing your further feedback.
Thanks for your fist comment, welcome!
I will email Luis to see if he is willing to post any details about what he likes about Valerus versus Milestone.
Wake me when one of them integrates with Knightscope!
Interesting to see that camera manufacturers (HikVision and Avigilon) doing now more in software than VMS vendors!
Appearence and face search is an epic feature! Operators finally can search in archives and make their work much more efficient.
I’m really surprised that strongest VMS competitors are now camera vendors!
What about Digifort VMS? any ideas?
Karim,
We reached out to Digifort recently, and I am hoping to stop by their booth at ISC.
Regarding the SmartClient GPU enhancement. It does indeed work well and there are a few things to keep in mind to let it work the best.
Pay attention to the monitor pixel count... using four 1080P monitors supports a lot more streams than four 4K monitors.
In addition, when using multiple monitors....put them all on ONE card for the max stream count. Coupled with my statement above about 4K, you do not need to have the 'biggest' video card to handle 1080p monitors. However, a set of 4K monitors WILL require the bigger card.
Additional GPU cards does support more total streams. The 'DECODER' part is what is handling the streams. The 'CUDA' part handles the rendering to the monitors.
For example, on a Dual Xeon system with FOUR Nvidia cards, streams at 1080P-10FPS, FOUR 1080P monitors...it could handle a little over 200 total streams.
The Nvidia driver has some good counters that can be monitored in perfmon. Use them to know when you are doing too much.

All other things being equal, not with enough horsepower, right?
I believe you're saying: with 2 identical sets of PC hardware, one driving (4) 1080P monitors will outperform the one driving (4) 4K monitors? That makes sense to me. IF that's not what you're saying, can you break it down further?
You are correct.
As I was testing in my lab, the 4K monitors presented a different load to the Nvidia driver... tending to use up the CUDA cores faster than the Decoder cores.
With 1080P monitors, there was never the case where the CUDA cores were stressed.
You should take a look at NX Meta and see what the guys at NX our doing with meta data. Very cool.
NX Meta is cool but not very useful for us in the US since we can't purchase it.
While Meta looks nice, I do admit that after watching the clip I'm not sure exactly what it does....
Has anyone heard of or used Mirasys before?
