Seems a little outdated compared to this... Hikvision Parking
Milestone App - Parking Spotter
Is there on-street parking open near your next service call? Milestone kickstarter entrant "Parking Spotter" hopes to answer that question, and win the MIPS developer contest.
The developer of Parking Spotter provided insight on the application, and plans to capitalize on the parking market with the Milestone-based solution.
In this report, we have details on our conversation, and analyze how the app will fit in the competitive market for parking management.

The parking robot is just not related and really distracts from a meaningful discussion on the pros and cons of this app.
The smart parking one is related to parking management but is not an offering that Hikvision NA or Europe is or will be offering for sale any time soon.
People complain about the lack of innovation, than we post something showing an app that can be used with regular Milestone systems (that many people have) and the response is videos of things that are not available.
I am just waiting for someone to re-purpose an app like this into something nefarious. Like try to find a parking lot that has this system and look for the areas in the parking lot were the system is not working correctly. Presto you just found a gap in the security cameras and know which cars to break into.
John, I apologize for not going into more detail. I don't think this app will be practical unless it's fully integrated with google maps, apple maps and other map apps that would push recommendations automatically to your phone for parking. Lets say I'm going to NYC and search bobby flays restaurant in yelp and ask for directions, yelp then asks if I need parking and it finds me a space when I pull up. Look how uber and Lyft are integrated with Apple maps now. It's seamless.
There are a couple of companies other than hikvision working on this. I see these types of systems being more popular in big cities like NYC where parking is tight and in garages not big lots.
Both systems are likely to serve a purpose down the road, each in different markets, the app in big mall parking and robots in luxury garages. Both will require good camera systems.
Congratulations Ovidiu! Well done.
Great work buddy :)
and don't worry about the Hikvision fans and their posts.
I can see value if this system automatically updated the VACANCY / NO VACANCY sign at the parking lot's entry.
I don't want to see another reason for smart phone operators to be interrupted by driving :)
Parking Spotter will be able to integrate with several other systems through API, so yes we will be able to update a Vacancy / No Vacancy sign at the entrance.
More, Parking Spotter will act like a GPS app with Spot availability inside, the user will select an available spot and the app will guide him to it. So, the Smart Phone user will not be distracted from driving more than he is distracted from a GPS app. :)
good luck Ovidiu !!!
UPDATE - Parking Spotter won the Kickstarter Award at MIPS 2017.
