ONVIF Timetable for Recording Specification

Author: John Honovich, Published on Apr 25, 2010

ONVIF continues its plans to expand beyond IP cameras, with a timetable for releasing an interoperability specification for video recording. In March 2010, ONVIF announced plans to expand to support interoperability for access control. In April 2010 e-mail, ONVIF notes plans to release their 2.0 video specification, including recording, in Q3 2010. They anticipate a formal review and finalization by the end of 2010.

By contrast, PSIA announced a draft specification for video recording in October 2009. We do not know any companies adopting the recording specification yet but will continue to check.
