Meraki Runs IDC "Leader" Marketing Campaign That Omitted Verkada

Published Apr 30, 2024 13:59 PM

Cisco Meraki and Verkada, founded by an ex-Meraki executive, compete regularly within video surveillance, offering structurally similar HaaS offerings.

Now, Cisco Meraki is running a promotion touting itself as a "Leader" in video surveillance, based on IDC's ranking, featuring 8 video surveillance companies.

Notably, Cisco Meraki paid to use IDC in its marketing, though IDC tells IPVM this had no impact on their research.

Also, notably, Verkada was completely omitted in these rankings, despite Verkada's large size and Verkada previously being an IDC marketing client.

In this post, we examine the IDC rankings and vendor assessment, Cisco Meraki's promotional statements, and the market research firm's further explanation of its results.
