Note: Sean is starting a new series of profiles on VMSes, focusing on companies we do not normally cover (e.g., not Avigilon, Exacq, Genetec, Hikvision, Milestone). Expect to see more profiles on VMSes companies and more testing (primarily on the companies we normally cover but should test more).

Great article and I look forward to more VMS coverage.

What are the features you normally look for in the VMS?

Great article! My concern is the obvious-will the Russians spy on us using the vms 😂

And just how reliable is it?

Addressing the second point seriously (after writing and deleting 5 or 6 sarcastic responses), we did not test the software in any way. I received a software demonstration similar to what you might get at an ASIS or ISC West show, just much quieter surroundings, so I can't comment on the reliability.

There is nothing to worry about. We do care about our customers' privacy, so we even refused from collecting any anonymous statistics on our product (unlike most of the companies).  Even if we wanted (we don't), we don't have access to your system's information, so we cannot spy on you or on your premises. And no, we haven't tried and failed, we just know it :)

All the data in Eocortex can be easily encrypted for maximum safety. Moreover, you can always check where your computer sends the traffic, and ensure that it does not go anywhere beyond your server, client or your own mobile or web-client.

Positive feedback from our partners and end-users – is the best proof of our reliability, I think.

No concern needed ;)

We are selling Eocortex in South Korea.

Our company works with Eocortex just for few months.

And we already implemented several projects in critical infrastructure.

Government customer is very satisfied with the solution based on Eocortex.

Moreover I would like to notice that suspect search function works really fine and our customers find it very useful.

ARAS Security is distributing and supporting Eocortex (New name in Europe for Macroscope) in Belgium for about 8 months now. Longer in the Netherlands.

(www.aras.be & www.aras.nl)

In my personal expierence as an ex-Milestone trainer I find it easier to setup and explain.

The licencing format is also easier to put in to the market as there is no charge for updating versions.

There also is no hasle with 3th party analytics setup.

Sean, to pick up on your comment regarding reliability.

We are a distributor selling Eocortex in South Africa and have only good things to say about the performance and reliability of the product.

It is solid VMS with great video analytics worthy of consideration for integrators looking for a clean interface, easy setup and good value for money.

Visuatech is a distributor in Benelux marked (Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg) and we do focus a lot on Eocortex VMS sales with great success so far. We delivered a few 1000 licenses mainly ST (with Suspect search and Tracking) in the last 20 months. The biggest difference with other VMS's is the smart functions and tracking that works on all camera's. Avigilon appearance search is indeed the closest comparable function. Integrators and end-users are very happy with the software what brings us to good growing sales.

As responsible Product Manager CCTV for ARAS Security, I'm happy to say we successfully distribute and support Eocortex in the Netherlands (www.aras.nl) and Belgium (www.aras.be).

Eocortex is versatile in analytics, compatibility and configuration, still easy to setup and intuitive in use. Not only is it a solid VMS, also the organisation behind it is working properly in terms of marketing, sales, (new) development ánd support.

Looking forward to more VMS coverage including Eocortex comparisons.

We (www.rts.be) are an integrator implementing Eocortex software in different projects (5 to 600 camera's) and are very happy with the performance and support from Eocortex.

They are very flexible and supporting in providing a solution in projects where there are specific demands or needs.

Frederick, I agree with you 100%.

Eocortex's Suspect Search was introduced almost a year ahead of Appearance Search and works on any camera with no additional licensing fees using ST or Ultra software editions. The interface is intuitive making it a good option for retrofitment on existing sites where the client can benefit from this effective search tool.

I´m glad to see that IPVM has fixed his eyes on Eocortex VMS.

As technical engineer and CCTV project manager for more than 15 years, I was able to test lots of VMS like Milestone, NUUO, Exacq, Axxon, Geovision, Lux Riot, Pelco Endura, SeeTech, Surveon, Avermedia...
But 3 years ago I had the chance to install Eocortex licenses and I did a deep comparison vs main VMS solutions, but I saw only benefits and nice advantages.

Also I was responsible for the start-up of 2 very large installations in different countries (about 300ch in one case and more than 500 in the second, still growing every year) and I only gave technical support in the initial days because system is really mature and powerful. 100% customer satisfaction!

In my company we have business arround all European countries (www.bydemes.com) and we have deep experience with Dahua and Hikvision, but If high-end projects are offered focused on Eocortex, then we never fail.

As pure VMS (to manage and record IPC) it requieres very optimized resources (Of course you can feel their R&D started in the Russian "silicon valley" area named Skolkovo), but also the video analytics modules are very powerful and user-friendly.

I will only highlight that we can record by advanced motion detection from any Onvif or RTSP video source, because they allows to activate motion by server resources instead of the integrated camera motion detection, that in our real experience we can´t trust.

This is one of the smallest advantages, just to show you that Eocortex from A to Z is the best choice compared with the rest of the well-known VMS systems from the market.

If you are an installer, integrator or CCTV distributor I can only recommend you to invest a little time to discover this hidden treasure.

Sorry If it sound like an advertisement, but Spanish people are very passionate and we love to share our good experiences and because I´m from Barcelona (Catalonia area) I love to defend professional teams wherever they are.

I only want to thanks IPVM to let the chance to talk about emerging brands like Eocortex that adds some fresh air in this saturated market from Chinese manufacturers.

If someone wants more details about my experience with this VMS and my comparison I´ll be glad to help you!

Best regards,

Ismael Lopez
EMEA technical director at Bydemes Group

I’m responsible for sales within the company www.visuatech.be and on every visit the customer is truly impressed by the possibilities that has Eocortex has to offer. Especially the easy way of handling, easy way of searching for images and integration with many different camera’s. Together with our installers we did won several cases from Established values as Milestone and Genetec. Key features that convinced the end-user were the many possibility’s and easy to use software. Contact me/us to convince yourself and your customers.

As a UK integrator we have been evaluating this software recently as an alternative to Avigilon. Whilst it doesn't have all of the Enterprise features of Avigilon, it does share many similarities at a fraction of the cost. Like Avigilon, Eocortex is very easy to set up, simple to use, has great stream management, is truly hardware agnostic with a vast array of video analytics at entry level prices, would highly recommend taking them up on a free trial

Thank you for the feedback. We also do have some features that Avigilon Enterprise don't :)

At Visuatech I’m responsible for product- and support management.

We’re using Eocortex for over a year now and already have a fairly large amount of projects equipped with Eocortex.

The CPU load is much lower compared to other enterprise VMS platforms, the user interface is very intuitive & easy to use, even installers that are relatively new on the (IP) surveillance market, won’t have any issues installing and configurating Eocortex

In terms of integration with other IP devices is Eocortex quite flexible, they support almost every brand and of course are Onvif & PSIA compliant.

If you do run into a bug or any other issue you can always contact their support department, in most cases they immediately contact you back and provide you a suitable solution or feedback via e-mail, Skype or by phone!

VMS of Eocortex has created a new breakthrough in the knowledge of the end-user and their security surveillance system. Not only is 1 regular observation tool again, the VMS of Eocortex assisted managers, end-users save a lot of time, human resource,. ...

A software is always to reach to end-users not only by making continuous improvements of products but also reduce the extra cost of products to the customers is what I expect in the near future Eocortex will do.

DNC Technology Corp.

We just signed distribution agreement with Eocortex in Italy, after extensive tests by our tech staff. Very simple installation, clean and fast client, a reasonable price, many in-house analytics plugins and no annual fees for mainteinance and support are the strenghts of this VMS compared with others.

Definitely, a good alternative to well-known VMSes where money and flexibility are a major concern.

Hi Everyone,

We are considering working with Eocortex, there were lot of positive answers fews days after the post, including some new partners.

I wonder if it's still positive after few months ?

Any remarks that might be useful ?

Regards

Hi,

Everything is still very positive, especially with the new features coming out soon in version 2.5. we're still happy to distribute it in Benelux with no shortcomings.

The recent version, both the VMS and Analytics, is way superior to their earlier versions. The best advantage is that the Analytics is embedded and no challenge of talking to two OEMs on the performance issue. With GPU, they have managed to optimise the hardware resource as well as significantly improving the overall performance.
