EU Commission Keeps Hikvision Cameras, Says "Not Aware" When Purchased

Published May 12, 2021 12:29 PM

The executive branch of the European Union, the EU Commission, is keeping its Hikvision fever cameras despite the EU Parliament's recent move to remove theirs over human rights concerns.

The Commission told IPVM it was "not aware" of Hikvision's human rights record when it originally signed the contract for the cameras and is keeping them due to its "commitment to sound financial management."

This situation effectively creates a standoff between the two highest levels of the EU, with some EU leaders now calling for the Commission to "immediately" follow the Parliament's example.

******* ** ********. ** *** ** executives **** ***** ********* **** ********* the ***** **** "would *** ** ** **** **** *** ********** ** ***** ********* **********." then they would not have purchased the proveably unreliable fever cams in the first place. Just stop installing them, pull the ones you did install and issue every guard station an IR thermometer. Cheaper and significantly more eeffective.
