Gatekeeper Security Company Profile - Detecting Faces Inside Vehicles

Border security is a common discussion in mainstream US news and politics, as is the use of banned Chinese equipment by US Government agencies. Gatekeeper Security says they have been focusing on secure borders, real-time analytic intelligence and US-based manufacturing for 15 years.

I saw this system demonstrated a few years back and its ability to see faces inside of vehicles was impressive. One of the statements that I seem to remember is that most automotive glass is specifically designed to block IR light, so best results are achieved using visible light. As I recall, there was a quick flash of visible light generated as you approached the gate. The presenter spun this as a positive rather than a negative "people are made aware that they are being tracked".

The technology may have evolved since I last saw it and I'm curious to see what they are doing now.

Panasonic has a similar camera that boasts the same technology coming in late 2020. It's a big rectangular box similar to old LPC cameras. It was stated that they use overwhelmingly powerful IR to capture images through a windshield. However that was a US based sales engineer stating that and they generally aren't as informed as the Japanese engineers. Perhaps one or the other is OEMing?
