US DARPA Investing $2 Billion In AI

The US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) is granting more than $2 Billion to companies developing new AI technologies. The money will be awarded via the AI Next Campaign with multiple awards given to companies innovating AI systems.

Historically, DARPA has been a significant source of funding for emerging technologies and its output or outgrowth can ultimately become part of civilian and corporate products, like for video surveillance or physical security.
