Hi Ethan, is Dahua showing any H.265 cameras at ISC West? They already had a couple of models of NVR with H.265 before the show, so clearly the cameras are coming, but I haven't seen any of their H.265 cameras yet. Thank you!
H.265 Cameras at ISC West 2015
People have been waiting for H.265 for nearly 2 years now.
At ISC West 2015, a lot of manufacturers showed H.265.
In this note, we answer: who showed it, what they showed, what they are using, what VMSes are supporting it, and when will this impact the market.

As for any NVR's being shown, is the h.265 only on the input side? Or does the NVR stream h.265 as well?
No major VMS showed or claimed H.265 support.
GeoVision was supposed to show H.265 cameras and H.265 VMS. Probably not a major VMS, but maybe the biggest with H.265.
Not a major VMS.
Hikvision is going to support H.265 but they are not a major VMS either.
When we say major, we mean Genetec, Milestone, Exacq, Avigilon, even companies like Axxon or Seetec, companies who specialize and are widely used with 3rd party cameras.
It will be another 10-16 months until the market will have the complete video elements with H.265. The bandwidth is important and i think each manufacturer will have a very different percent of bandwidth difference.
The market is asking for a perfect combination between H.265, Axis zipstream, camera analytics, metadata and self learning. The first company that will manage to integrate all these and make it plug and play will be able to win the market.
The Hikvision Demo of H.265 have two cameras (H.264 and H.265) shooting at different scenes? If so, the bit rate comparison does not help much to understand the bandwidth savings of H.265.
I saw Hisilicon demonstrated H.264/H.265 comparison adopting 5 megapixel ip camera with a close result (H.264 8Mbps / H.265 4Mbps). Something wrong?
How about H.265 with smart stream technology? Will the bit rate go down to 2Mbps for 5 megapixel ip camera?
I wouldn't speculate on trade show demonstration bandwidth consumption.
Is anyone claiming H.265 + 'smart stream' technology? If so, who? If so, what type of smart streaming do they claim to do?
