I want to gauge the discussion board for some feed back on popups. I am in the middle of working through a user interface and feel that my stance of all in one client interface are not being heard with engineering.
In your experience would you rather operate a client application that held all system tasks within the same UI? Or does it not matter to you when operating a system that it will popup a separate browser window to address a task? (outside of the main client)

Jul 28, 2018Pop up windows are bad and have been so for many years, whether it is web browsers or client applications.
There's a reason why tabs have become the de facto layout for web browsers, VMSes and many other applications.
We actually just examined that in our new Eagle Eye VMS test, which uses pop ups.
