Informative Votes Now Count 2x - Member Commenting / Payments

Background: How Comment Voting Works And How IPVM Pays You

We have doubled the value of informative votes. Previously, 'agree', 'informative', and 'funny' all counted for 1 unit each. Now, informative counts for 2x.

Impact

This has two impacts: (1) Informative votes will pay out at $0.70 each, whereas 'agree' and 'funny' remain at $0.35 each. (2) On the commenting leaderboard, informative votes will carry more weight. For example, if member A has 100 agrees, member B has 51 informatives, Member B will be ahead with '102' total count vs member A at 100.

In terms of annual payouts, this will increase how much we pay members by at least $2,000+ per year. For example, last year we paid members $12,000+ for votes received on their comments.

Rationale - Reward Informative Comments

Informative comments add the most substantive value to IPVM as IPVM's primarily goal is to share information and inform our members. As such, we wanted to incentive such comments.

Any questions or feedback, let us know.

Conveniently, this had the effect of launching you back into first place on the leaderboard overnight, vaulting over the sufficiently hilarious and somewhat agreeable but apparently not so elucidative, Mr. Dearing ;)

I was afraid that conspiracy theory would arise, though I have confidence that Dearing will adapt to the new rules and still win, consider it a challenge!

...Dearing will adapt to the new rules and still win...

I’m a tryin’, but my early results are not impressing anyone :)

Objection: being funny is harder than being informative. Trust me, I've tried to be both.

Trust me, I've tried to be both.

You can do both, even at the same time!
