An integrator subscriber recently told me they are very frustrated that one of their local competitors 'hires away all my techs by offering them $2/hr more, no matter what...' He told me that a supervisor from this company hands out business cards with a 'CALL ME' number on them to his company's techs while they are working on projects.
He was convinced this competitor was hiring 'his techs' because it would weaken his company, not because the hired techs were worth $2/hr more than he was paying them. As we've noted in numerous posts (i.e., Unicorns: Techs Good At Access and Video, Says Access Panel), technicians are especially hard to find and keep right now, so the strategy is disruptive.
