What is the best switch to use for an end to end Avigilon solution?

Any switch that meets the bandwidth and POE requirements.

Kinda funny, kinda snarky Mike! LOL!

I think the observation would be that all switches are definitely not created equal. What the data sheet says and what the switch will actually support when pushed to capacity are two different things.

IP Video in general (not just Avigilon video) is much different than day to day data traffic. Generally speaking, video traffic is largely persistent and somewhat bumpy. Data traffic is largely bumpy and can be somewhat persistent but typically not on all channels simultaneously (viewing a movie). Weaker switch fabric will start dropping packets (and even fail entirely) earlier than a high quality switch when fully populated with video traffic.

Only a side by side test can really tell which switch is adequate for the job at hand. Don't trust any data sheet...ever. One of the reasons IPVM has been so successful!

 A properly configured one?

On a serious note, we asked integrators what their favorite network switches are recently: 2017 Integrator Favorite Switches

I think Avigilon being typically deployed in a mid to large Enterprise space, the customer will generally expect a switch brand that is typical for their market: Cisco, HPE/Aruba, Juniper, etc. That's not to say that Ubiquiti, Netgear, or any other brand wouldn't work, there's just no "best".

The best one will be the one that the camera manufacturer resells.
