Are The Cost Savings Promised By Direct-To-Cloud Cams Truly Significant, Or Are There Hidden Costs?

Reducing costs is a common theme for direct-to-cloud camera VSaaS providers, but many variables are involved. In most cases, as they are tasked to do, marketing highlights "worst-case" scenarios for on-premise systems with NVRs. IPVM caught and reported Verkada doing this in 2019, claims which Verkada then updated to be deceptive, instead of just wrong.

This is not just Verkada, for many direct-to-cloud offerings, Google ads, and/or web pages exist marketing significant savings.
