Camera Design Tool with Google Maps Integration
Pelco has released a free camera design tool with Google Earth integration. The tool is in beta and has no where near as many functionalities as JVSG's CCTV design software. However, we found the tool to:
- Be simple to use. It only has a few options but those are the most common when specifying cameras.
- Show realistic placement on actual buildings. With the Google Earth integration, a single click posts the camera FoV display onto a map of whatever location you desire. It provides accurate measurements of distances so you can tell whether the coverage is sufficient for your parking lot, intersection, walkway, etc.
While the tool is designed for use with Pelco's own cameras, it supports a 'custom camera' setting that allows users to put in generic settings for use with any 3rd party camera.
