HID Troubles Behind CEO Ouster

Published May 28, 2015 04:00 AM

Access control is typically 'boring'.

But the biggest manufacturer in the industry shocked many with the out-of-the-blue departure of HID's CEO.

IPVM sources tell us that while the timing was sudden, the exit marks an ouster, likely based on weak financial performance, struggling growth initiatives, and problems with relocation and reorganization.

In this note, we break down each of these concerns.

HID was doing some strange things last year. Orders were getting messed up, took an extra week or two to get parts during their move. Our distribution sales manager got moved to a different territory and we ended up someone from Quebec of all places. Luckily we have old sales manager back so I'm hoping the waters are settling down but last year was rocky on our end with HID. This is a little surprising since they are considered the industry standard and I'm not sure they have an equal competitor in the access control world.
