Will Any HDCVI Camera Work With Any HDCVI NVR?

Specifically Tyco Holis NVR. Currently their data sheets only indicate support for Illustra Essential IP, AD HD Analog and any SD Analog. But I am hoping to integrate 3rd party HD-Analog PTZ.

I believe CVI should work on any CVI capable device as far as video. The issue you may find is controlling that 3rd party PTZ from the Hollis unit.

Thanks Jay,

I know I have gotten 3rd party PTZ TVI to work with Dahua and Wbox. I am just not fluent with the HD Analog technology, so I was wondering if it was a general rule of thumb or standard that as long as the recorder supports CVI that it would support any CVI camera.

I guess the only way is just to try it.

There are 4 versions of CVI.  It “should” work as well as Onvif.  Reassuring huh?

First question, which HD analog PTZ are you hoping to connect? As long as the PTZ resolution is supported by the recorder, it should be fine. In our tests, third party non-Dahua CVI has been compatible with Dahua CVI recorders, but that testing was mainly limited to cheap import brands, and mainly fixed cameras.

From what I've seen a lot of the CVI that's available is simply Dahua OEM, which the Holis line is, as well. So the brand you're looking at could very well be, too.

Don't forget to watch your resolution, even if it is compatible CVI. You may need to reduce the output resolution if your recorder won't support the full resolution.
