Survey of Asian Hybrid DVR Manufacturers

Given the large number of DVRs produced in Asia, it is not surprising that Asian manufacturers would be keenly interested in the development of Hybrid DVRs.

A recent article by ASMAG surveys the outlook of a dozen Asian video surveillance manufacturers [link no longer available] on hybrid DVRs. From the comments by the manufacturers, many are excited by the potential but most indicate that sales are projected but not significant currently.

This was also the position of Everfocus in our examination of Everfocus' participation in the HDcctv alliance. Specifically, Everfocus cited the high cost and complexity of IP for the lower or budget segments of the market has a barrier to hybrid analog/IP systems.
