Large Image Sensor / Low Light Camera

By John Honovich, Published on Apr 08, 2010

Lumenera offers a number of megapixel surveillance cameras with significantly large image sizes that most commercial offerings. While most of Lumenera's cameras use a 1/3" or 1/2" image sensor, 4 models offer a 2/3" CCD sensor. These cameras all have a 165 model number and are 1.4 MP (1376 x 1032) resolution. The larger image sensors provide larger pixel sizes allowing the camera to absorb more light that should allow for better low light performance. The day/night version of the 165 camera has an MSRP of $3,300 (far higher, nearly 3 times the price of most cameras with similar resolution but 1/3" or 1/2.5" sensors).

Note: this is not a new release nor have we tested the product. We recently learned of it and are sharing it as a short update.
