Expands into Energy and Health Care

iControl continues its attempt to do it all in the home. Even though they are just finishing pilots for their home security offering, iControl [link no longer available] announced a "Mass Market Energy Management Solution [link no longer available]." Additionally, iControl launched a new website with a section dedicated to Home Health Care [link no longer available].

iControl plans to use surveillance and security as their base product offering - the initial entry into the home market (see our examination of iControl's approach to IP video). The energy management and home health care services are viewed as extensions from this base.

While alarm providers are interested this as a way to drive additional recurring revenue, it will be interesting to see if this 'kitchen sink' approach to attacking the home market succeeds. iControl has over $40 Million USD in investment, restarted its product strategy after a discontinued security kit offering in 2006/2007 and is looking to launch Q4 09/ Q4 10.
