Turning Smartphones into Surveillance Cameras

An emerging surveillance trend is mobile apps allowing cameras embedded in smartphones to be used for surveillance, integrated, viewed and recorded by a VMS system. DVTel was first to announce this functionality, as part of the Version 6.2 release of its Latitude VMS platform, and Milestone followed a few days later with an announcement at their 2012 partner meeting. In this note , we will look at these two announcements and their potential applications in the industry.
