Look at the two cameras side by side in the image below:
This is inside an urban Shell gas station.
The two cameras are Sensormatic and Lorex, literally side by side:
A decade ago, Sensormatic cameras were popular choices, and you would pay a few hundred dollars per camera plus pay a professional installer to set it up. Now, a full Lorex kit can be bought at Costco for the price of a single Sensormatic camera a decade ago and the end user typically installs it themselves.
And this is a Shell station, most certainly a franchisee, but still a real business that historically has used professional integrators. But evidently, this time around, the Costco solution was too attractive to pass up.
