Census of US Security Installer Managers
Author: John Honovich, Published on Mar 02, 2010If you thought that managers of security installers were white, middle aged and Sarah Palin supporters, than you are right according to a recent survey by SSI magainze on US security installers. It is important to note that SSI magazine's core readership tends to be disproportionately in the alarm/intrusion side of the business so the numbers are unlikely to be representative for IP video surveillance integrators. Nontheless, the numbers provide insight into the 'traditional' business.
Their 2008 results provide extensive details on security installer managers. Key points include:
- 92% are male
- 91% are white
- 50% did not graduate from college
- 61% Republicans
- 61% have been in the industry 16 years or longer
- Only 8% require technical training of employees
- 73% of businesses are family owned
