Axis Ad: Throw Away Your Analog Equipment

In a surprising and, sure to be controversial ad campaign, Axis advocates throwing analog equipment away. If the reader is in any way confused about the intent, analog cameras and a DVR are stuffed inside a trash can with a confirmation request, "Are your sure you want to permanently erase these items?" and the mouse pointer highlighting 'Yes' as the ad copy below shows:

Despite this messaging, we think the main competitor Axis Camera Companion will undermine is low cost open VMS software combined with 3rd party cameras. As we analyzed in our review of Axis's recent low cost HD cube camera release, the ACC package now is extremely price competitive compared to Milestone or Exacq but still significantly more expensive than analog DVR kits.
