Very few professionals buy cameras based on straight specs. Generally, it is based on positive experiences with that manufacturer's previous models. Often, it is based on testing (even if it's just simple in office testing of a single model) before buying in larger quantities.

Can you elaborate what you are looking to do here?

Btw, some specs are more trustworthy than others - one's that often cannot include low light performance / minimum illumination and WDR rating (dB).

I am an end user. This site has a wealth of information and at the same time it is information overload for me. I previously posted a question to integrators if they had any information on a company called SCW Inc.  I am remodelling my gas station and convenience store and needed some direction on IP cameras and resolution. After  I have reached out to two different integrators locally and neither one of them seemed to offer the kind of expertise you guys have.

in all honesty. the camera you listed is overkill, in my opinion. At least based on the megapixel count. You would probably get just as much real world use out of something like a 3mp camera as you would the 8mp in all but the most extreme cases, and would save yourself some money, bandwidth, and storage. I would suggest looking at things in the 2-5mp range, with an emphasis on low light and day/night modes, depending on where you want these cameras to go. If it's well-lit areas, and your open 24 hours, then you could get away with maybe just standard IP cameras, whereas any dark spots or closing hours would maybe benefit from some IR and low-light options. For maybe a more specialized plan, I would suggest poking around here, and then cross-referencing the cameras/suggestions with any possible reviews over here.

I'm also unfamiliar with GeoVision cameras, but the SCW website says that is the brand of (OEM?) cameras they use. Having never used one, I googled the name and lo and behold, two months ago IPVM ran this story on an "unprecedented security" vulnerability. I don't know if they ONLY use GeoVision cameras, and if the one linked is one or not, but something to be aware of. I would assume the exploit has been fixed by now, but just trying to offer some transparency on SCW for your research purposes, since no one seems to have worked with them or their products.

Thank you for the response. I will be open 24hrs with plenty of LED lights on and around the building. The only issue I currently have is the building faces west and in the late afternoon the sun creates a bad haze and the two cameras on the outside of the building facing west are worthless.

Any advice on what type of camera I should buy for a gas station. I have received three different quotes and none of the integrators have been able to provide me the information that this site does. Neither have any of them offered to sell me products like Axis , Hanawa , Avigilon etc...that is why I am resorting to buying for my self. But where do I go? Besides SCW INC or Amazon...I am not sure. Is $10K enough for 12 camera IP 5MP system?

Where are you located? I'm sure there are plenty of folks here that would be glad to sell you top end equipment and not charge retail for it. And $10K is more than enough if you're doing it yourself, should cost you far less.
