Windows Vs Linux For VMS

Wondering if there is any data on trends for relative usage of desktop Windows, NVR/linux, and desktop linux for VMS?

Data by sector from enterprise/commercial down to home/consumer would be interesting too.
Insights on the factors driving those trends would be nice (even without the statistics).

I think my topic was poorly phrased.

To clarify, I am trying to get data on the usage (popularity) of each platform for running VMS.

Is the trend moving toward  linux NVR's?  etc...
