One of the advantages of VSaaS testing I have enjoyed over the past 4+ years is the freedom from having to periodically update client software for those 7-10 systems we are regularly subscribed for testing. Note: We still need to maintain the ~half-dozen of VMSes we typically have running.
As an integrator, I generally worked with larger end users that had IT desktop support staff that I could often convince to include updating the VMS client yearly, while we would maintain the server software. However, there were some that could not or would not be able to do this and we would charge/include in a maintenance plan to update 5-20 VMS clients on a yearly basis. The maintenance money was okay, but techs and engineers fought to not be assigned those tickets because they were just fantastically boring.
