One of the most valuable tools I have ever used is a can of wasp spray when working on outdoor cameras and cable boxes.
There are even specialty brands specific to outdoor CCTV work, like the ~$12.75 USD SpiderEx Spray (which also claims to cut down on false alarms caused by spider webs):
