Welcome Dan Gelinas To IPVM!

Join me in welcoming Dan Gelinas to IPVM. Dan will be doing a number of things at IPVM but you will most visibly see him in his business / industry reporting.

Dan has an impressive background with experience most recently as an integrator, at a service provider (Rapid Response) and journalism (SSN). Dan has also completed multiple IPVM certifications. The combination of this experience and expertise will help provide value to our members.

His first post today is FST Fails, expect many more on a variety of company news, trends, issues, etc.

Everybody else stays as is. Some other highlights of ongoing IPVM work:

  • Ethan and Rob - analytics and 4MP camera shootouts in progress
  • Brian and John S  - installation training and course in progress
  • Sean working on a number of VMS tests including HikCentral and Eagle Eye
  • Charles working on China and EU reports
  • Ryan dedicated to handling member support

Our goal is not only more reporting but deeper coverage.

Curious, what does John do?  I envision him at Waimea doing barrel rolls and occasionally going back to shore responding to posts while sipping on a pina colada.

I did not know they were big! :)

In all seriousness, we don't compete with the traditional magazines. By that, I mean the complaints or reasons we hear about people becoming members is typically about people being upset about how we cover their favorite company and virtually never about preferring SSN or SIW, etc.

Also, we literally have more people in editorial than SSN, SDM, and SIW combined and our readership is far greater than the mags.

But you might mean in terms of intrusion / alarm systems. In that case, I would expect moderately more coverage (e.g., Dan yesterday on the Nortek lawsuit) but the focus will still clearly be video, as it is our core. We do plan to continue to expand but still with most additional coverage deeper into video.
