Remember the days of end-to-end solutions, with this chip shortage I think it is time to reevaluate the idea of a single source for hardware and multiple solutions for software. I used to sell SWH and haven't for a couple of years, but I've been assaulted by manufacturers offering proprietary hardware to fill the gap.
The other issue is how to compensate salespeople when it takes 20+ weeks for a part to show if you're lucky and traditionally the sales rep doesn't get paid till the Integrator gets paid when the job is completed.
