Verifying Camera Resolution

1. How is it really true the resolution 8Mp or even 4Mp. i mean is there a mean to verify what is claimed in a datasheet of a camera?

2. With an IP cam and Cat cables it is logical to be able to transmit higher resolution as the medium is digital (0s & 1s) so correct me if am wrong how is it possible to do the same over Coax (tvi cvi ..etc) which is Voltage based and bandwidth is limited not to mention interference and disruption chances are high?

Ultimately, you measure/test/confirm in the same way as an a log camera - with a resolution chart

However you need one with a higher TVL, as analog ones top out too low.

This allows you to quantify and compare.

IPVM has additional ways that look at quantization or compression levels, amount of noise, bandwidth, etc.

But comparing a resolution chart is a good place to start to determine if someone is full of smoke and mirrors.

Note that resolution charts are expensive as they are high quality cardstock prints.

The signal being transmitted is not a function of the cable type. Coax is used to deliver internet to many locations for example, so it's important not to conflate cable type as analog or digital.

The cable type is optimized for the type of signal, which is why UTP is used in network Category cables and not untwisted doorbell wire or Coax (although those types can be used to conduct digital signal too.)

Does that help?
