A client of ours is asking for a button or switch to use in order to lock the front door when the receptionist steps away for lunch...ect...I advised them to use the EAC software but they do not want their employee to have any access to it whatsoever. The question they have is, if the receptionist is away and the toggle switch is engaged and the door is locked, in the event of a fire will the door lock release?
Toggle Switch Door Lock And Release
First question what type of lock is on the door, maglock or strike. Secondly would the EAC allow the button to be an input that would put the door into a card only type mode. If it is a maglock and the system is wired properly with fire shutdown the button wouldn't matter as power would be dropped.
It is an electric strike. I don't know if the EAC allows it to be an input for card only mode. Thank you for your reply.
Since it is an electric strike then the customer would always be able to exit the facility but if you install a button to bypass the EAC relay and always put power to the strike when the button is on then nobody would be able to enter from the outside.
