Interesting roundtable from Source Security / Security Informed: Should ‘Made In China’ Be Seen As A Negative In Security Systems And Products?

5 manufacturer responses: Oncam, Genetec, Hanwha, Pelco, and Dahua. 4 of 5 are negative about China. Hikvision did not respond.

Personally I refuse to describe 95% of this industry any longer as "security", I instead go with "surveillance".  To me security implies trustworthiness in products and manufacturers that you can rely upon to help you and, well, secure your sites.  When manufacturers have to be dragged and shamed into providing network security on their "security" products it just doesn't wash.

Who is in your 5% that actually qualify as doing “security”?

Good question, I may have to amend my statement to say "100%" instead of "95%".  I tried to leave that 5% for items that I don't have personal experience with that could somehow exceed expectations, maybe simple latching mechanisms or such.
